Description
These are the PlayStation 2 launch models released outside of Japan.
From a hardware perspective, they are very similar to the SCPH-18000, but with one key difference: they feature an expansion bay interface for the HDD.
They can be identified by a few unique traits: they are the only FAT models with an expansion bay that still include the iLink port aligned with the lower USB port, and they also use 10 bottom screws in their chassis design.
It’s important to note that the SCPH-30000 (Japan) is not the same as these models. Instead, they are closer to the 3000XR series, since the Japanese market was still using the SCPH-18000 at the time these overseas launch models were introduced.
