Description
This was the second-to-last revision of the original PlayStation 2, released worldwide and closely resembling the SCPH-37000.
At the time, these models gained a reputation for being the most reliable in terms of disc reading. In reality, this belief was largely a myth spread by modchip installers, since this revision was one of the easiest to modify with a chip.
More importantly, this was also the first PS2 revision vulnerable to the MechaCon crash—almost certainly not by coincidence. The issue was so rare, however, that many still assume it only appeared with the later 500XX models.
